MRLD is collaborating with the Town of Kennebunk, The Mousam and Kennebunk River Alliance, The National Park Service and Maine Rivers on a park in the Intervale Neighborhood. FEMA funds were used to purchase properties in the Intervale Neighborhood when the Mousam River flooded the area following the Patriot’s Day Storm of 2007. The park is envisioned as a series of minimal horizontal interventions in order to reduce the number of snags during storm events.
